Hello everyone! Been thinking about this topic today as I was scribbling away to revise Paeds 💪

Here are my thoughts:

🔹 Your aim should be to make useful and practical notes that are easy to use and help you actually learn the info in the process of making them NOT to make pretty notes

🔹Notes that are well organised and colourful are really nice to make and use, but sometimes you become so perfectionist in the details of the aesthetic that it distracts you from the content

🔹For me notes are dynamic, I like to add information, change things, draw arrows and make links with other topics, highlight everything as I go... and often that does make the most tidy notes! The notes may look a bit more messy but it shows they are reviewed often and useful to learning so that’s great!

🔹I like to use active recall as I find that just copying from the textbook doesn’t help me learn as well! And active recall gives you very messy notes (this photo is an example of my active recall session this morning!!)

However, if making pretty notes REALLY helps you learn/ you find that pleasant then there may be a little space for that too if it doesn’t cost you too much time/ energy! You can also choose to make pretty notes for certain key topics that you will review often and then satisfy yourself with ok looking notes for the rest.
